HOSTS NEEDED – An Episcopal Youth Choir out of Charlotte, NC contacted us and asked if we could help host the kids if they did a concert here in Parkersburg.  The concert will likely be at Good Shepherd.  They would like the two churches to host a dinner at Good Shepherd and need hosts for 50 kids.  They want to send at least two kids to each house.  The date is June 15, 2017.  We need to get back to them right away if we can provide homes.  So if you are willing to host, please let me know right away and how many kids you can host.

GREAT VIGIL – There is a signup sheet on the bulletin board in Trinity Hall for you to sign up for the Great Vigil which begins immediately following the Maundy Thursday service. The time slots are in 30 minute segments and you may sign up for as many as you wish. Please refer to the Trinity Times for more information.

EASTER EGG HUNT – The annual Trinity Easter Egg hunt will be Saturday, April 15th, 11:00 a.m. at the home of Ann Bailey at 55th Street and River Road in Vienna. Please bring a bag or basket to collect eggs. Prizes, as well as carrots, and apples to feed the horses, are provided. We ask that each child participating bring canned goods or toiletries to help stock the Trinity Food Pantry.

FYNE JUNQUE SALE – April 28th – 8 am to 3 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm (evening hours are part of downtownpkb event: Merchants and Artists Walk) April 29th – 8 am to 1 pm. Lunch to be announced later Please continue to bring in items to be sold and be ready to volunteer your time to help.

APRIL DONATION ENVELOPES – No matter what the circumstances may be, a caring person can make the difference for a child who has been abused or neglected. CASA is a program where trained court appointed volunteers represent the best interest of an abused or neglected child for whom placement is being determined by the court. A CASA volunteer acts as a fact finder of the child’s best interest, providing a judge with valuable information about the child to help the court make a sound decision about the child’s future. Everyone has a gift they can share to make the difference for an abused or neglected child. Volunteer, make a contribution or donate your expertise.

A Word from Your Priest-April

By the time you read this article we will be more than halfway through Lent. What a Blessed Lent we have had so far. The Wednesday Lenten dinners and program have been very well attended. We meet for Evening Prayer at 6:00pm; dinner at 6:30; and the program beginsat 7:00. Becky Mathis-Stump hasdone an excellent job of exploring our individual gifts and how they can be used and combined to further God’s kingdom here at Trinity. We are very appreciative of Becky’s efforts and everyone that has helped to coordinate the meals and provided food. Our observance of the Stations of the Cross on Fridays has also been very well attended. We have between 16 – 20 people for the Stations and almost everyone goes out to dinner afterwards. I want to say thanks to our resident “cruise director” Lynn Fury-Prather for coordinating the reservations. We continue our efforts to restore the Rectory (the office building) and the youth area on the second floor. We finished the plaster work and painting on the first floor which also led up to the secondfloor andeven the stairway to the third. We did some clean up and organization of the youth rooms, including adding a flat panel TV for the XBox 360 game donated for the youth. With the pool table, the videogames, and a ping pong table that can be pulled out of the closet and put into use in the hallway, it is quite a space the youth can be proud of and invite their friends to come see. We are interested in some appropriate furniture, maybe a sectional couch. If you have something to donate, please contact Tiffany Deem to discuss. Of course Tiffany’s office is up there and thanks to the prior efforts of Marion Culbertson, it is quite an office for Tiffany to use as our Director of Religious Education. We also cleaned up the old “pewroom” and have put it back into use. We have it set up for two purposes right now.  The first is a“war room” so that Tiffany, Terry, and I can gather information and focus our attention on continuing to build on our youth programs. Feel free to stop in anytime and see it. The room will also be used by Joan Ramsay, who has agreed to help coordinate with our Communications Director, Jim Full the inhouse pictorial directory. Tim Northrup has donated some office furniture and computer equipment for that use. We are in the process of getting it all hooked up to our network so Joan can work on the directory.Watch for more information to come. As a reminder, we are encouraging the use of the Adams Chapel in the Rectory as a quiet space for prayer anytime the building is open. Even though we have outgrown this Chapel for our Wednesday service it is still a beautiful and spiritual space in our Church. So I encourage you to take advantage of this chapel, any time you are near the church, for prayer and quiet reflection. Feel free to close the door if you desire more privacy. You can see we have a lot of exciting things happening. Please, come and be a part of what God is doing here at Trinity, and as always, bring a friend. God bless you one and all,

Father Paul

CHRISTMAS GIVEAWAY – Last year we served around 400 people in a Christmas giveaway for the needy.  If anyone would like to be involved in this ministry, we have already begun collecting donations for this year.  On Sunday, March 26th K-Mart on Division Street, south side of Parkersburg, will be having their last major markdown before they permanently close the store.  They still have many of the items that are most important for our Christmas giveaway, mainly:  coats for all ages, hats, gloves, socks, boots, blankets, and toys.  We accept all items, as people in need aren’t limited in what they need but we believe those items are some of the most important. Contact Terry Shaw for additional information.
