VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL – Our VBS is combined with 1st Lutheran Church (19th Street) and Good Shepherd. It will begin on June 2 and continue through Thursday night. On June 2 kids are invited to enjoy a bounce house in the afternoon with the VBS program beginning with dinner at 5:30 and ending at 7:30. The ages are 3 to 11 for the program. We are expecting to have a nursery as well. There also be a component for the adults focusing on the ministry of the church.
ASCENSION DAY – We are invited to join 1st Lutheran for food fellowship and worship to celebrate the Ascension of our Lord, Thursday May 30th at Fort Boreman Park. They will provide pulled pork and drinks and ask that you bring a side even if it is chips or cookies. Dinner at 6pm, Evening Vespers with Communion at 7pm.
THY KINGDOM COME – Once again some of us will be participating in the “Thy Kingdom Come” prayer event that starts on Ascension Day (May 30) through Pentecost (Jun 9). Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray for more people to come to know Jesus. What started in 2016 as an invitation from the Archbishops of Canterbury and York to the Church of England has grown into an international and ecumenical call to prayer. I invite you to check out the website for more information “thykingdomcome.global”. If you decide to participate, please let me know. Fr. Paul
175TH ANIVERSARY CONCERT – The culmination of our 175th celebration will be a concert on June 2 at 4:00p.m. The concert will feature history comments, selections by the choir, and hymns. The Smoot Children’s Chorus will also join us wearing robes from the 1920’s and 1930’s like our children’s choirs wore during that time period. Please save this date and feel free to invite your friends and neighbors.
FIRST FIVE – This is a friendly reminder for you to take the first five minutes following the dismissal to greet someone in the service that you don’t know and make them feel welcome.
GRADUATE SUNDAY – We will be recognizing our graduates on Father’s Day (June 16). We will have a presentation for those graduates that are present at the service on that day. So, please let us know if you have a graduate in your family, from where they are graduating, and what their plans for the future are.
