We have been intentionally doing this for the Saturday night service and it brings a different dynamic to the worship and to the singing. Most of you likely noticed this when we worshiped in Trinity Hall during the restoration. So, for those of you that like the back row, just make the back row about halfway up the pews, and everyone else fill in ahead of them. If we try this, I think you will notice a difference. What a great way to hang out with your friends in church! BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS – The blessing of the animals will be October 7 in our parking lot. We will have a canopy set up and we hope the new fence will have been installed. Winding Road Kennel, which is sponsored by Faithlink, will be on hand to answer any questions about pets or opportunities for volunteering. Invite your family, friends, and neighbors to join us. HERITAGE DINNER – We are very appreciative of the time and effort Lori has offered in sending out all the invitations for the Heritage Dinner. But just in case you did not receive an invitation and would like to come, we want you to know you can contact the church office to RSVP. Just to be clear, the preferred option is for you to return the RSVP card included with your invitation along with your payment. Please be sure to indicate which person receives which meal choice. This is required by the Blennerhassett Kitchen staff. FIRST FIVE – Let’s remember to welcome our visitors and take the first five minutes after worship to speak only to people we do not know. The loose offering given today goes into the Rector’s fund to assist with items not otherwise covered by the budget. HURRICANE RELIEF – Episcopal Relief & Development is now supporting dioceses along the coast as they prepare to respond to the impending storm. Please continue to pray for all those impacted by hurricanes, for the first responders who will initiate any needed rescue phase, and for church communities as they reach out to their most vulnerable members and neighbors. PRAYER BEAD MAKING – Anyone who is interested in making their own Anglican prayer beads is invited to join us Thursday, September 13 at 11:30 in the conference room. The catch is that we also need to make about 30 extras to take to Diocesan Convention. We are hosting the convention in Flatwoods in October and we would like to offer a prayer bead service. Hamburgers, hot dogs, condiments, place settings, water, ice, and lemonade will be provided. You are asked to bring a vegetable, dessert. salad, etc. to share. We will need volunteers to set up and clean up. We will also need volunteers to meet at the church at 8:30 a.m. to help transport things to the park. The book study at Panera has been rescheduled for August 4. ADT SECURITY INSTALLATION – ADT will be installing our new security system Tuesday, and possibly Wednesday, of this week. This will be a big change for us. Each person who is issued a key will be assigned their own security code that will need to be entered when the system is armed. Also, the locks are going to be re-keyed, so your current keys will no longer work. New keys will be provided as soon as possible. We ask for your patience as we go through this changeover. CHURCH PICNIC – The church picnic will be held August 5th at the City Park in shelter 7, beginning with a Eucharist at 10:30 a.m. We suggest you arrive around 10:00 to get your chairs set up in time for the service. Hamburgers, hot dogs, condiments, place settings, water, ice, and lemonade will be provided. You are asked to bring a vegetable, dessert. salad, etc. to share. We will need volunteers to set up and clean up. We will also need volunteers to meet at the church at 8:30 a.m. to help transport things to the park. He speaks for those who have no voice – the destitute of the developing world served by Food For The Poor, an interdenominational ministry providing food, clothing, medical care, housing and economic development programs in the Caribbean and Latin America. PRAY, FAST, AND ACT – The Episcopal Church and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America continue our united call to Pray, Fast, and Act. This month we focus on disaster preparedness. The United States and its territories are more frequently experiencing severe weather patterns. Fast-moving wildfires in California fueled by drought and intense winds forced tens of thousands of people to flee their homes, more than 40 deaths, and the destruction of more than 8,000 structures. On July 21, pray for all those affected by disasters. Remember those who have lost everything and all those who are working to respond.
