DISCRETIONARY SUNDAY – Today is Discretionary Sunday. The loose offering given today goes into the Rector’s fund to assist the needy with items not otherwise covered by the budget.
PRAYER WARRIOR MINISTRY – To kick off our new “Prayer Warrior” ministry we will be showing the movie “The War Room” this afternoon at 3:30 pm in Trinity Hall. Fr. Paul will explain more about this ministry at the movie, but if you believe in the power of prayer, come and be a part of this new ministry.
THY KINGDOM COME – Once again some of us will be participating in the “Thy Kingdom Come” prayer event that starts on Ascension Day (May 30) through Pentecost (Jun 9). Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray for more people to come to know Jesus. What started in 2016 as an invitation from the Archbishops of Canterbury and York to the Church of England has grown into an international and ecumenical call to prayer. I invite you to check out the website for more information “thykingdomcome.global”. If you decide to participate, please let me know. Fr. Paul
ADULT EDUCATION AND BIBLE/BOOK STUDY – We will be starting a new study during Adult Education (9:15 am Sunday) and Tuesday Night (6:30 pm). It is a six-session study by Andy Stanley entitled “Irresistible”. When that study is complete it will be followed by a study by Adam Hamilton entitled “Christianity and World Religions.”
175TH ANIVERSARY CONCERT – The culmination of our 175th celebration will be a concert on June 2 at 4:00p.m. The concert will feature history comments, selections by the choir, and hymns. The Smoot Children’s Chorus will also join us wearing robes from the 1920’s and 1930’s like our children’s choirs wore during that time period. Please save this date and feel free to invite your friends and neighbors.
FIRST FIVE – This is a friendly reminder for you to take the first five minutes following the dismissal to greet someone in the service that you don’t know and make them feel welcome.
GRADUATE SUNDAY – We will be recognizing our graduates on Father’s Day (June 16). We will have a presentation for those graduates that are present at the service on that day. So, please let us know if you have a graduate in your family, from where they are graduating, and what their future plans are.
THE WAY OF LOVE – Bishop Michael Curry will be speaking at the WesBanco Arena in Wheeling on October 5. This is open to the public, but tickets will be needed. There will be a Liturgy and Coffee Hour at St. Matthews’ on October 6. Make your reservations for the event and hotel soon. Visit www.stmatts.com for additional information.
