Effective June 1, 2019, Trinity has partnered with Community Resources Inc. (CRI) and their food program Thrive to administer our food pantry and Crisis Intervention (utility assistance) ministries. CRI is a nonprofit community action agency that serves an 11-county area in the central western region of WV. CRI is also affiliated with Faithlink, which is an organization Trinity has supported for years.
Instead of offering direct assistance from the Church, we will refer clients to CRI and Thrive. Trinity will continue to support these ministries financially and will join with CRI to explore ways to otherwise support them. For example, we anticipate offering volunteer assistance, raising funds or collecting items for specific needs, and participating in Thanksgiving and Christmas outreach opportunities.
CRI fulfills its mission by walking alongside individuals and families as they pursue the goals that are important to them. CRI helps families find affordable housing and ensures older adults can maintain independence in their homes. CRI assists individuals as they gain the skills necessary to enter the workforce and supports others to find consistent employment. In addition, CRI guides adults in their efforts to become financially stable and helps ensure children have access to nutritious meals and snacks. CRI provides energy-efficient upgrades to homes, and aids families when they struggled to pay their utility bills.
Thrive is a community empowerment program offered by CRI. Thrive provides basic living essentials to families and individuals through a case management process that ensures their stability while working through goal plans for self-sufficiency. These services include access to food, household cleaning supplies, and personal hygiene items; clothing support for foster and adopted children; and new baby care supplies. Thrive delivers services through a dignified shopping experience where participants are given choices of selection to meet their specific needs.
By partnering with CRI and Thrive to continue these outreach ministries, we believe we can have a greater and more effective impact on those we have been serving. CRI has the staff and resources to more efficiently and thoroughly assist the needs of our community.
